Huawei punishes staff after iPhone used for official Happy New Year tweet

Chinese tech firm Huawei has downgraded two of its employees after iPhone was used to send a Happy New Year welcoming tweet from its official Twitter account.

The message was all about wishing the Huawei supporters a “Glad # 2019” on New Year’s Day was set apart with “sent using Twitter for iPhone” and was immediately seized by clients who spotted it.

And even though the tweet was quickly erased, screen captures of the post spread over a whole host of online life stages, including the blogging webpage Weibo.

In an internal update conveyed on Thursday, seen by Reuters, Huawei corporate senior VP Chen Lifang said the error had “made harm to the Huawei mark”.

The blunder occurred after Huawei used to redistribute its internet-based life pages experienced “VPN issues” with a PC thus utilizing an iPhone with a meandering SIM card to send the tweet in time for midnight, the update said.

VPNs – or virtual private systems – go as a safe passage between gadgets, enabling clients to send and receive information crosswise over open systems as if their registering gadgets were straightly associated with the private system.

As Twitter is prohibited in China, anybody in the nation who wants to use the site would need to use a VPN association.
